After delivering devastation to Iran’s nuclear program, President Trump announced on Monday that Israel and Iran had agreed to a “complete and total ceasefire.”
This leaves us at FrontPageMag wondering: Does this mean that the world’s leading state sponsor of terrorism can get back to its business of terror? Will the terror regime cease and desist from its chants of “Death to America” — and renounce its ideology of our nation being the “Big Satan” and Israel the “Little Satan”? And what happens when Iran goes back to its terror business?
Finally, is the world simply going to stand by and observe the Iranian tyrants continue torturing their own people?
Islamic law stipulates that Muslim forces do not ask for a truce unless they are losing and need time to gather strength so that they can fight again more effectively later. A ceasefire with Muslim terrorists just allows them to regroup for the next war. What guarantee is there or could there possibly be that the Islamic Republic will not continue pursuing its goals of destroying Israel and America as well?
And how does all of this fit with Crown Prince Reza Pahlavi warning the West, on Monday morning, against throwing the Iranian regime a lifeline, stressing that doing so would cause more bloodshed and chaos?

This ceasefire is idiocy beyond words. The job needs to be finished, but they stopped short. So after all of this monumental effort and unique moment in time to go all the way to the end, they threw the regime a life line. So Israel and the US has done is to buy themselves a couple of years. The announcement of a ceasefire was a total surprise for me, and dismaying because Israel and the U.S. had made great progress. The momentum should have been allowed to continue to ensure that all the rest of the rocket launchers, missiles, armament factories, IRGC members, nuclear scientists, and finally the mullahs were eliminated.
Tehran has not been totally defanged and the snake’s head is still intact. They will regroup and repair and rebuild.

Can you clarify why pragmatism could not deliver this-worldly success and why it does not believe in this or any world? What are the epistemological and metaphysical foundations for that claim? I notice that this is a Peikoff quote, but I still don’t follow. I always had an instinctive aversion to pragmatism, but I never spent enough time on it to figure it out. When I was a philosophy student, my professor tried to get me to read Peirce, but I could not digest him. I read Descartes, Hume, Kant, the Greeks, and some Hegel, but I could not take Pierce for some reason. I since read a few books by Dewey, but I’m still in the dark as to what is unique to pragmatism. I don’t believe that Trump is a philosophical prgamstist, though.

Iran violated the terms of the ceasefire. (Who ever would have thought?) Israel started to respond. Trump told Israel to turn their planes around because a ceasefire was in effect. Apparently Trump decided it was ok to ignore the fact that Iran had killed 28 Israeli civilians since the war began and was continuing on this path (of course).
Trump is naive about Islam and blinded by his quest to get a nobel prize or at the very least be seen as a “peacemaker.” Apparently, at any cost.
How quickly things can turn, from the glorious moment when the US sent our warriors to bomb the nuclear sites after Israel’s brilliant days of attacks to this. There are no words to describe the insanity. Israel must be able to keep fighting to the end.
One can only hope and pray this inane ceasefire is built on the fact that Israel needs more munitions, but so far it doesn’t seem like that. Let’s hope this is more subterfuge.
